There’s no better way to start 2024 than with a UK sold-out run. UK metal giants BURY TOMORROW successfully completed that feat in support of their seventh album, ‘The Seventh Sun’. On a chilly January evening, the second day of the tour took place in Leeds, where the line-up was met with a cordial welcome.
California metalcore band KINGDOM OF GIANTS made their first appearance across the pond since 2018 on this tour, and it was certainly worth the wait for their fans. The bands vocalist Dana Willax ordered the room to open up before the first song even began, and his orders were quickly followed as a mosh pit formed in the centre of the room. The energy in the room was electric right from the off for the Cali band, and that did not stop until the conclusion of their opening set.
Next up was Detroit’s WE CAME AS ROMANS, and they certainly utilised their appearance on this tour perfectly. The bands headline worthy performance brought out the best from the Leeds crowd, with constant mosh pits, to singing along to fan favourites ‘Lost in the Moment‘ and ‘Hope‘, which was rounded off with vocalist Dave Stephens standing on top of the crowd during ‘Black Hole‘ and then carried safely back to the stage to round off an emphatic set.

It has been almost ten months since the release of ‘The Seventh Sun‘ and it was finally time for BURY TOMORROW to get those new tracks the live treatment they certainly deserve. The stage was set, and as the lights from the back drop began to flicker, the room erupted with cheers. Once each member stepped out from the wings, the roars continued to grow louder until finally vocalist Dani Winter-Bates starred down the whole room.
BURY TOMORROW launched into their headline set with the first three tracks from ‘The Seventh Sun‘ and it was clear from the reception, that these songs were cemented in people’s heads as the Leeds crowd sang back every single word. Even with a new album to get off their chest, the band weren’t afraid to head down memory lane and play a few golden oldies from their previous records, with ‘Black Flame‘ receiving the biggest reception of them all as crowd surfers began flooding over the top of those down on the dance floor.
The band who hail from Southampton actually consist of three members who were originally born in God’s Country, and after Dani voiced that this feels like a second homecoming, the Yorkshire chants began to fill the room, and once they fizzled out, business quickly resumed.
The gut wrenching ‘Boltcutter‘ and ‘Heretic‘ brought out the last bit of energy the Leeds crowd had, and there was still some life left in them for 2020’s ‘Cannibal‘ and ‘Choke‘ which have some brilliant clean vocal segments in them to get them room singing along. The six-piece concluded their stand out performance with ‘Death‘ and received a thundering ovation from every single person in attendance.

Even after almost two decades as a band, BURY TOMORROW are still one of the most adored UK metal bands around, from performing at numerous festivals, to arena support slots, it is their headline shows that you really do get the full experience.
