After concluding his 2023 with an arena tour in support of Noel Gallagher, TOM MEIGHAN chose to move his live performances into smaller spaces, presenting an intimate acoustic set to breathe fresh life into both his own songs and timeless Kasabian pieces.
The sold-out venue erupted with excitement as TOM and his band made their way through the crowd to the stage, eager for what the opening would be. The acclaimed ‘Club Foot‘ opened the show after the frontman had done teasing the audience before a song had even been performed. Everybody in the room started singing along as the entire space burst into the festival main stage vibe that TOM has grown accustomed to over the years.
To prevent fans from getting ahead of themselves, MEIGHAN performed two solo songs to both tease the audience and test the reception of his own music. Many of the folks in attendance were singing along to ‘Rise‘, indicating that they weren’t simply there for the hits from his previous band.
The Kasabian songs took off. ‘Days Are Forgotten‘ and ‘Underdog‘ were both excellent acoustically, and during the choruses, everyone in the room was screaming the lyrics at the top of their lungs, making it difficult to hear the band. Huge cheers followed TOM’s declaration of love for the crowd and the venue. The set was created with a combination of solo songs and Kasabian staples, and soon the finale arrived.
The evening concluded with ‘LSF‘ and ‘Fire‘ but the audience pleaded for one more song, and ‘Empire‘ was the answer. The energy in the room was palpable, and during the last song, the audience went all out, extending a hearty welcome to TOM in Mexborough, a location he likened to Phoenix Nights. After a fantastic performance, the leader quickly made a break for it, squeezing out of the crowd and heading back to his dressing area.
