Illinois’ pop punk icons KNUCKLE PUCK made their eagerly anticipated return to the UK to provide their devoted following with an array of fan favourites, marking the release of their fourth album, ‘Losing What We Love’, after its release back in October 2023.
The first group to start was SHORELINE from Germany. Their unique blend of pop punk and hardcore demonstrates the band’s versatility, with their constant movement on stage, it was quite a surprise considering their 17 hour journey for the show. The band was visiting this place for the first time since 2018, and they were really well received that evening. Their songs contain rich meanings in addition to conveying crucial messages.
After a brief pause, it was the turn of the Chicago band to take stage. The audience erupted in cheers as KP appeared from the wings, only to be cut short by the band’s sudden entrance. Opening the night with ‘The Tower’, it has become a hit from their latest release. ‘No Good‘ and ‘Disdain‘, two classic songs that made an early appearance on the set list, gave OG fans something to scream about. The quintet made quick work of their hour-long show.
The crowd was ecstatic during the chorus of ‘Double Helix‘, and the band’s more recent single, ‘Groundhog Day‘, was the most well-received from ‘Losing What We Love’. Although the absence of bassist Ryan Rumchaks from the group was felt, Real Friends’ Dave Knox’s performance that evening demonstrated the two bands’ enduring friendship spans more than ten years.
Leeds fans were chanting at the top of their lungs during fan favourites ‘Gone‘ and ‘Untitled‘, and with mosh pits erupting and fists raised, this was definitely the greeting that KP deserves when they cross the pond. The Yorkshire audience pleaded for more as KP ended the show with ‘Pretense‘, and their desires were fulfilled when they returned to the stage to close the evening with ‘Give Up‘, capping off another momentous night in the North of England.
