After almost two weeks of teasing, Manchester’s PALE WAVES have finally announced their brand new album ‘Smitten‘.

The band’s fourth record is scheduled for release 20th September via Dirty Hit. Pre-order HERE.

Smitten‘ follows on from 2022’s ‘Unwanted‘, which saw the band secure their third successive top 10 album in the UK. The album was written within two years between both the US and the UK and see’s the band branch away from the pop punk sound that featured heavily on both ‘Who Am I?‘ and ‘Unwanted‘.

In a press release, Heather Baron-Gracie said “I found myself writing about not just a certain time period, but my whole life from years ago. When I fall in love, I fall deep, and it’s interesting to me that you can feel so fascinated and smitten with someone and then they can become a total stranger. So I feel like Smitten really summarised perfectly what I felt for others at a certain point.”

The brand new single titled ‘Perfume‘ featured as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record on release day, Heather continues by saying “It’s the perfect introduction into the new world we’ve created. It’s queer, it’s feminine and it’s romantic, and it encapsulates the essence of Smitten.”

Perfume‘ is available across digital streaming platforms HERE. The official music video can be found below.
