After an eight-year absence, long time friends MILBURN reunited in 2016 and celebrated the tenth anniversary of their debut album, ‘Well Well Well‘, by holding a brief residency in Sheffield, their hometown.
Since then, the group has gone on tour throughout the United Kingdom, played at numerous festivals across the nation, and most recently, announced that they will be closing out the summer season at Sheffield’s Rock n Roll Circus. However, the group chose to play a small, intimate show for a select group of lucky fans before the big event in August.

It seemed appropriate for the band to make a spectacular entrance to ‘World in Motion‘ as England had booked their spot in the Euro final two days later. As the applause subsided and the four men were prepared to raise the roof, ‘Well Well Well‘ resumed as if they had never left. The crowd strives to match Joe Carnall Jr.’s powerful vocal delivery of the chorus during a Milburn performance, and the entire venue was bouncing right from the off.
Following a thrilling start, the band was amused as chants filled the room, but things quickly returned to normal. The fact that so many songs from each album, such as ‘Showroom‘, ‘Lucy Lovemenot‘, and ‘Nothing for You‘ were played back-to-back indicates that fans were in for a nostalgic trip on this memorable evening. Naturally, the songs from their debut album were the most popular. The faster-paced ‘Lipstick Licking‘ inspired greater passion from the fans across the room, while the more leisurely-paced song ‘What About Next Time‘ had the crowd singing along.
Once more, ‘Chesire Cat Smile‘ got the dance floor bouncing, which was then shortly followed by a number of songs from the band’s last two albums were played. The band then exited the stage, leaving Joe alone to continue the party. An acoustic performance of ‘Roll Out the Barrel‘ and ‘Storm in a Teacup‘, were excellent, but it wasn’t long until Joe, Tom and Louis returned to see out the show in style.
Everyone in the room, even the bar staff, was singing along to ‘Send in the Boys‘, which had the house rocking once again. Fans are still excited by the build-up to ‘What You Could’ve Won‘, and this performance serves as the ideal introduction to what Rock n Roll Circus and Milburn have in store for the audience this summer.
