Liverpool legends CAST made their return to the beautiful West Yorkshire town of Holmfirth as part of their hectic summer schedule. To keep fans of ‘Love is the Call‘ on their toes and carry the album cycle into the second half of the year, John Power and co ensured the set was full with a slew of brand-new songs as well as a host of fan favourites too.

As they descended the stairs to thunderous applause as each member emerged from the wings, the band kicked off with ‘Sandstorm‘ to get the already eager audience grooving. After ‘Fine Time’ had fans of their debut engaged, a bunch of songs from their most recent album shortly followed, with the title track preluding ‘The Rain That Falls’ and ‘Love You Like I Do’ which had the whole front section belting out the lyrics, indicating that ‘Love is the Call‘ has grown to be a fan favourite very quickly.

As John Power stomped around the stage to the infectious chorus of ‘Guiding Star‘, there were plenty of people in attendance who weren’t afraid to down a few pints to increase their affection for the scousers, despite it being a Thursday night. The set continued with a combination of songs from ‘Mother Nature Calls‘ and ‘Love is the Call’ until the crowd was soon drawn back in with ‘Walkaway‘, from the bands’ debut album, and soon ended with ‘Free Me‘ as they exited the stage to enhance the excitement of an encore.

Whistles and cheers filled the silence during the wait of the band returning, and after a brief break, CAST returned to the stage to close the evening with a three-song encore. ‘Starry Eyes‘ kicked off trio, followed by the captivating guitar ripper ‘History‘, which had the Holmfirth crowd pumped for the explosive conclusion. The much awaited ‘Alright‘, which preceded Power’s appreciation, allowed the Holmfirth crowd one last opportunity to participate, and they most definitely didn’t let themselves down as they joined in right from the off to see out the bands return to the quaint town.
