Australian pop-rock band STAND ATLANTIC returned to the UK to celebrate the release of their fourth album in six years ‘WAS HERE‘, for a series of headline shows which saw them raise the bar in much larger rooms. Now with vast amounts of experience from touring across the world, their biggest headline shows in the UK kicked off with a night in Leeds at the city’s new venue, Project House.

Making their own return to the UK was LA pop-rock duo HONEY REVENGE, who delivered a headline worthy performance of their own to keep the crowd pumped up for the main event. Vocalist Devin Papadol’s continuous dancing and vertical leg kicks made up the most of her stage presence, but it was her vocals that really stole the show, and backed up with feel good melodies that are hard not to dance along to. One of their hits, ‘Rerun‘ received a huge reception from the packed Leeds crowd, and in return treated the Yorkshire folk to the live debut of ‘Medicine‘ which went down a storm. Playing almost the whole of their album ‘Retrovision‘, it was ‘Distracted‘ and ‘Airhead‘ that served as the perfect ending to the bands supporting performance.

As the Aussie quartet made their grand entrance, the electric opening track ‘WAKE UP SIT DOWN SHUT UP‘ kicked off the set in style and the Yorkshire crowd began to move right away. Guitarist David Potter’s guitar spin was met with a huge cheer during ‘hair out‘, and the powerful ‘WARZ0NE‘ kept the movement going throughout the room. SA weren’t afraid to churn out their older material, even though their new album is the main attraction of this tour. ‘Lavender Bones‘ encouraged crowd surfers to pour over the barrier, and ‘Hate Me (Sometimes)‘ had the entire place rocking. After a mash-up of Train’s ‘Drops of Jupiter‘ with their own song ‘Toothpick‘, the positive energy was flowing through everybody.

Vocalist + guitarist Bonnie Fraser explained the story behind their next track ‘LOVE U ANYWAY‘, and despite its deeper meaning, it is still an upbeat song that can get any crowd dancing along, and this was no different in Leeds. Concluding their set with a ray of songs from both albums ‘f.e.a.r‘ and ‘WAS HERE‘, the Sydney quartet made a brief exit before returning for two further songs to round off their first day in the UK in true style. Throwback pop-punk hit ‘Coffee at Midnight‘ was followed by ‘GIRL$‘ which saw Devin from Honey Revenge return to the stage to join for a spectacular ending.
