As they approach the final stretch before the release of their fifth album ‘Smitten‘, Manchester indie-pop group PALE WAVES revealed a run of intimate acoustic shows around the UK to preview new songs and breathe fresh life into fan favourites. One of the most anticipated dates of the short tour was their hometown performance at Gorilla.
Prior to the tiny concert, fans were treated to a Q&A session with Heather, Charlie, and Ciara where they discussed topics such as, why they wanted to become a musician, concepts behind their music videos, songs they have fallen out of love with, and their favourite cheese.
After amusing the crowd with their confessions and stories, Charlie and Ciara departed the stage, leaving Heather to perform solo in front of 500 fans. Opening with the new album’s lead single ‘Perfume‘, it set the tone for the more laid back atmosphere as the crowd began to sing along softly but allowing Heather’s powerful vocals to remain the centre piece. The crowd pleasing ‘Eighteen’ shortly followed, with each song’s backstory explained, or conversation between Barron-Gracie and the crowd to keep the positive vibes flowing. A surprise cover made it’s way into the set, with Lana Del Rey’s ‘Video Games‘ getting a huge cheer just before the first note was played, with another of PALE WAVES‘ much adored hits ‘There’s A Honey‘ following.
Closing out the night with the beautiful unreleased song ‘Last Train Home‘ and their latest single ‘Thinking About You‘, with both suiting the acoustic versions perfectly due to their original sound concluded the evening in brilliant fashion. Fans then blocked to the balcony for the signing session which followed shortly after the set, which saw the band take time to chat with fans and take photo’s as each person in the room now walks away even more excited for the release of ‘Smitten‘.

PALE WAVES‘ brand new single ‘Kiss Me Again‘ is out now across digital streaming platforms. Pre-order ‘Smitten’ HERE.
