Now with their debut album ‘Fear Life for a Lifetime’ under their belt, Liverpool post-punk quartet STONE head in to the final third of 2024 with another headline UK tour, this time playing a range of locations not on the main touring circuit, including a mid-week performance in Nottingham.

Fellow Liverpool outfit WOO opened the show to an already large crowd. The band combine elements of traditional indie rock with a contemporary touch, with their ethereal guitars during ‘Heart‘ were enough to pass for a mid-90s Britpop anthem. ‘My People‘ was certainly the most well received song of their opening slot, and frontman Shi Burman continued to utilise the space around him in between lyrics to deliver a far from dull performance.

Local lads THE CHASE are no strangers to some of Nottingham’s premier venues, so this was a walk in the park for the band who are all about having a good time. Despite billed as a support act on the night, the quartet continue to deliver a headline worthy show each time. Their upbeat songs are enough to encourage anyone to get up and dancing, especially stand out track ‘Trumpet’. The show served as the ideal warm-up ahead of their headline slot at the venue next year, and for those who weren’t familiar with THE CHASE, they certainly are now.

Returning to the city for the first time since their Rock City performance supporting DMA’S, STONE continue to display an intense show, now with a fresh set list consisting of tracks from their brand new album, ‘Train‘ kicked off the night, showing a much more mature sound with these new tracks, it wasn’t long for the band to go back to one of their fan favourites as ‘I Gotta Feeling‘ really upped the ante.

Frontman Fin Power was up to his usual tricks, dancing around the stage throughout the whole show, whilst looking directly into the eyes of the crowd, Alex Smith (drummer), Elliot Gill (guitar) and Sarah Surrage (bass) all remain heavily focused on their tasks, but still know how to let loose as much as their vocalist. New album tracks ‘My Thoughts Go‘, ‘Queen‘ and ‘Save Me‘ are quickly becoming staple additions in the bands setlist, ‘If You Wanna‘ and ‘Let’s Dance to the Real Thing‘ remain firm favourites from their fans.

The band’s explosive finale, which included the songs ‘I Let Go‘ and ‘Leave It Out‘, solidified their status as one of the most exciting bands in the UK. With their regular live appearances across the UK, whether it is on tour or at a festival, there is still opportunities for new fans to become part of the STONE family.
