Portsmouth’s premier festival returns to Southsea for the August bank holiday weekend, with the first wave of acts revealed for the 2025 line-up.
Seattle rockers QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will headline the opening night of this years VICTORIOUS FESTIVAL. Josh Homme and co’s performance will be the bands debut at the festival, having made several appearances at other huge events across the UK, it was only right for them to make the way down south for a headline slot. Their latest record ‘In Times New Roman…‘ reached #2 in the UK Album Charts, making it their sixth successive top 10 record.
NYC indie rock band VAMPIRE WEEKEND will also be making their VICTORIOUS debut, after a successful return to the UK in December in support of their album ‘Only God Was Above Us‘. Their recent tour across the pond marked the bands first shows in the UK since their 2019 Alexandra Palace performance, with a Saturday headline slot at this years festivals set to be a momentous evening.
Making it three in three for American bands, a huge finale comes in the form of KINGS OF LEON. The bands ninth album ‘Can We Please Have Fun‘ reached #2 in the UK Album Charts in the summer, and saw the Followill four head out on an extensive UK stadium and arena tour in support of the record. KOL reached the top spot with ‘Because of the Times‘ in 2007, with their follow up ‘Only By The Night‘ matching the chart position, but sky rocketed the band to new heights with tracks like ‘Sex on Fire’ and ‘Use Somebody’ gaining them huge popularity across the world. The festival conclusion is guaranteed to attracted a huge audience to witness the Tennessee band take on Portsmouth for the first time.
Despite three huge headliners being enough to attract thousands of music fans, the line-up continues to impress with a wide range of artists and comedians appearing across the weekend.
Friday will see the likes of crowd favourites MADNESS, rising stars WUNDERHORSE, Britpop legends DODGY and ASH, the return of DANIEL BEDINGFIELD, as well as festival regulars JAMIE WEBSTER, THE K’S and special guests THE CHARLATANS all appearing on the opening day.
To get Vampire Weekend fans excited, a stacked line-up for Saturday features NELLY FURTADO, THE LAST DINNER PARTY, 2024’s 2x UK #1 SHED SEVEN, indie rockers CIRCA WAVES, Ireland’s THE ACADEMIC, the returning RIZZLE KICKS and South Yorkshire’s THE ROSADOCS all performing across various stages.
Finally, the Sunday line-up will feature a special performance from BLOC PARTY, which see’s the London band perform their iconic debut album ‘Silent Alarm‘ in full along with a range of their greatest hits. Rotherham’s THE REYTONS are guaranteed to bring the energy with their electric live show, whilst fellow South Yorkshire band REVEREND & THE MAKERS bringing the ultimate festival set with their feel good anthems. Spice Girls’ MELANIE C will be delivering a DJ set, whilst Birmingham’s OVERPASS, The Vamps’ BRADLEY SIMPSON and indie icons THE ZUTONS all set to perform on the final day of the 2025 edition.
