THE VIEW frontman KYLE FALCONER kicks off 2025 with the release of his third solo album ‘The One I Love the Most’. We sat down with Kyle to discuss the albums theme, the ups and downs of touring and what he has planned for the rest of the year.

How does it feel to finally release ‘The One I Love the Most’?
Kyle: I am buzzing man. It’s my first release on my record company. It feels good. This is the first time I have gone through the process on my own. The mixing, the mastering, the production, the artwork, it’s all in house.
—
Is there any particular reason you have decided to take that approach?
Kyle: Me and Wardy are wanting to cut out the middleman and do it ourselves. We have a recording studio and I did pretty much all of the instruments. We’re fed up of having to deal with loads of people and giving a chunk of the money away to be honest. Seabass Vinyl pressed all the records and they had a really quick turnaround so that helped.

The album’s theme is about women. What was the reason you have brought that to life with this record?
Kyle: My wife Laura asked me, “how many songs do you have about women, you should make it an album”. We have a recording studio that is sitting there and ready, so I am going to make this album. I worked with Chris Evans who usually does urban and hip-hop stuff, and he was rapid with this one. He had never recorded guitars before, so it was pretty simple stuff really. In my head it was a really easy thing, to go and redo songs I had already written and recorded, but it ended up being quite complicated because I had to learn all the parts again. Some of those songs have never been played live before, I was going to really ramp them up and make them into a hip-hop style but decided no, let’s strip it back for this one.

How do you think these songs will be received live, as fans will know the original versions.
Kyle: I do a lot of solo shows with my pal Drew. That is kind of what we do anyway. It is great to see and hear the crowd singing along without the ramshackle of drums and lots of guitars. It is good to get to the bones and the heart of the songs. You see peoples faces when they are singing along and the lyrics make more sense.

The lead single ‘Angelina’ is the only new song on the album. What was the decision to add this to the record?
Kyle: It is new to everyone else but it was a song from years ago that I tried to put on a The View record. Originally it was called ‘Where Do We Stand?’ and my daughter was in the back of the car saying “Angelina, Angelina” so I reworked the song and made it fit with the concept of the album. It has been sitting in my archive for years.

You are currently on tour in support of the record. How excited are you to get back on the road after a busy 2024 with The View?
Kyle: I am that used to doing it, I just go and get the job done. It’s quite hard at the minute because I have three kids and another one on the way. Last year I had the kids on the road with me as we were home-schooling them so there were no issues. We had them at the Liam Gallagher shows, Isle of Wight, TRNSMT, everything. So when I’m away I always miss my kids, I always feel a bit unstable when I am not with my kids, so I feel I could go off the rails at any minute. They are what keeps me together. I’ve just bought another house in Spain so I’ve got to go to work. I love playing though, it’s just I miss my kids.
—
Do you feel more relaxed on stage when your kids are around?
Kyle: If they are there, I am completely chilled. It’s almost like I am playing for my kids, I will give them a wink or do a funny dance, it makes me feel at ease. It is when I am not with them I feel like a bit of a loose cannon. It is good to have them there, they are good ammo, especially when I am on tour with The View as everyone is on their best behaviour.

Your UK tour is coming up soon, and the album is finally released. What other plans do you have for 2025?
Kyle: Just festivals man. I am going to start working on a new solo record. I’ve got loads of songwriting camps, we’ve got Justin Hawkins from The Darkness. Jamie Webster is doing a couple of them, also the Soft Play guy and Danny McNamara from Embrace. I am moving house and the baby is on the way. I’ve got a musical in New York and Australia with two separate casts, so I am going over to do some promo for that. It’s insane man.
