Following the release of their brand-new EP ‘Dependent‘, Birmingham four-piece OVERPASS returned to Sheffield, this time as a headline act following an extremely successful 2024. A packed house at the Foundry, with a supporting act already establishing themselves, awaited their fourth visit to the city.

The show kicked off with London-based shoegaze-grunge band KEO taking the stage. The quartet are already expected to make waves throughout 2025, with two support tours already under their belt. As the band began their performance with ‘Hands’, the audience erupted in “Keo” chants, which reverberated throughout the room following each of their songs. With minimal effort, KEO stunned the audience with a blend of heart breaking lyrics and powerful guitars. Despite only officially releasing one song, ‘I Lied, Amber’ had the biggest reception from the crowd, demonstrating that despite their limited material, the band has already amassed a huge following as they are already preparing for their next move.

Once the room turned to darkness, cheers erupted around the room as OVERPASS made their way on to the stage. Wasting no time in getting through their set, the band opened up with ‘Be Good To Yourself‘, quickly followed by the crowd pleasing ‘Alright‘. The latter saw the crowds energy pick up as they began to let loose and join in, whilst the unrelease ‘Sandman‘ kept everyone engaged and excited for new material.

Continuing with a stacked set list that included tracks ‘From the Night‘ and ‘Right Time‘, which both kept the intensity going in the room, another unreleased song featured titled ‘Union Station‘. Despite OVERPASS‘s EP is still relatively new, fans are already looking forward to new music in the near future. Popular single ‘3AM‘ arrived, with arms outstretched and people on top of shoulders, this was the most fun the crowd had on the night. Frontman Max Newbold did let out a brief smile in between lyrics as he took in what was unfolding in front of him.

As their set was nearing its end, ‘Take It Or Leave It‘ and EP title track ‘Dependent‘ set up the finale that came in the form of ‘Beautiful‘. The capacity crowd once again made their presence known by joining in for the entire song to conclude OVERPASS‘ emphatic return to the steel city. Now new music is clearly on the horizon, 2025 is shaping up to the bands most exciting yet.
