THE HUNNA are currently doing a small run of shows across independent venues around the UK as part of the Music Venue trusts campaign to keep supporting small local venues and keep them alive.

The alternative-indie rockers from Watford were joined on this run by Lincoln band KIDDA, who are known for their fun loving attitude and punchy catchy songs.

KIDDA opened the evening up to an already packed out Yardbirds and bravely admitted to being from Lincoln (old rivalries never die) as the crowd broke into an eruption of boos. But that didn’t last for long as it didn’t take long for the crowd to get involved bouncing along with the band who were throwing there all into this show and giving all their energy to put on a killer performance on their first appearance in Grimsby.

The relationship between Kidda and The Hunna is a special one and seeing them still playing shows together after they opened in Lincoln for them, you can just see that this is going to be a friendship that will last a while.

Now for the main event, although a short set, THE HUNNA put on an energy fuelled performance, and a sold out Yardbirds from front to back was all involved in making it feel like a special night. Seeing a band like this in a small local venue is always a joyous thing, and it’s great to see Grimsby putting on more fun shows at venues across the town rather than always being the same venues.

The Yardbirds holds a special place for bringing iconic 80’s musicians to the town and now to bring in a newer scene and a (slightly) newer band to their venue can only be a good sign of things to come.
