What has the reception been like for ‘Typical Ways’?

CW: Even before we put it out, every single night on tour, that got the biggest response from the crowd. Even when we play it in the middle of the set, all over the world, every night, by far the biggest response (for an unreleased song too). Now that it’s out we’re seeing that same response but online which has been amazing.

Your previous single was released back in October 2024. Is there a reason why it has been so long for new music?

CW: It Hurts was having its moment at US radio, where it cracked the top 20 for the first time in our career. We didn’t want to distract from that. As an independent band, we can make decisions like that on the fly.

What can people expect from the forthcoming album?

CW: More band focused records and a continuation of the first six that we released, however I will say that each song is different from each other. For example, there won’t be ‘another one like Typical Ways’ or another one like Miley, but that’s intentional.

Have you noticed a surge in new fans of the back of the shows with Keane and Maroon 5?

CW: We just got back from Mexico with Wallows and for the first time we could audibly hear people singing the songs back to us from the stage (and we were just the opener!). It definitely feels like we’ve turned a corner here. When we started touring the new album we had like 6k Instagram followers, we now have 100k. Our Spotify monthly’s went from 30k to 650k. We’re definitely very aware and lucky with how much traction we’ve made in such a short span of time.

Can fans expect to see more of Culture Wars on the live stage this year?

CW: We’re definitely going to continue touring aggressively through the rest of 2025 and even more in 2026. We’re turning our sights to UK/Euro and LATM next. We’ve got an album to launch!
