Following a performance at Glastonbury this year and a support slot with Deftones at the massive Crystal Palace park, WEEZER made an exclusive headline appearance at The Piece Hall to kick start the week on a Monday evening.

The Piece Hall served as the perfect venue for one of the hottest days of the year so far and it wasn’t long until WEEZER graced the evening with a set filled with some of their greatest hits. The crowd were fired up from the get go, opening with ‘Anonymous’ before unleashing into ‘Hash Pipe’ to really liven the mood. The remarkable combination of high-pitched vocals and quickly transitioning into a much deeper sound, River Cuomo delivered this live exceptionally.

Every song was accompanied by a stunning back drop visual, with ‘My Name is Jonas‘, ‘Perfect Section‘, and ‘Surf Wax America‘ all tossed into the mix. The excitement across the courtyard continued to build with ‘Holiday‘ and ‘Pink Triangle‘, following, but it was nothing compared to what was about to happen next. Fan favourite ‘Beverley Hills‘ saw the venue erupt in cheers. The sold out Halifax crowd sang every word as loud as they could, which then continued once ‘Pork and Beans‘ came around shortly after. Taking a moment to praise the venues stunning architecture, Rivers looked around in awe before resuming the remainder of the show.

As the last song from their incredible self-titled debut album, also known as The Blue Album, ‘Only in Dreams‘ marked the end of their set (for the time being). It was a suitable way to cap off their performance ahead of the looming encore. The band quickly returned for two last songs as the audience started clamouring for more the moment they left the stage. Beginning with ‘Say It Ain’t So‘, they rounded off their Halifax debut with ‘Buddy Holly‘, which encouraged a massive sing-along from the packed house. Their devoted fan base will undoubtedly remember their hit-filled show at The Piece Hall for a very long time and WEEZER continue to impress after three decades.
