Indie-rock band The Backseat Lovers brought their EU & UK tour to Glasgow’s iconic TV Studio on 1st July. 70s inspired English rocker Charlie Vaughan supported the show, before the headliners of the night hit the stage performing a bunch of their classics, such as their alt hit single Kilby Girl.

The Buckinghamshire indie rock act Charlie Vaughan brought an unreal supporting set at 8 pm following his recent single Another Day released in May. A notable set highlight was Thank You, Joe Fernandez, the title of his 2024 EP. Their infectious sound as a band, along with catchy melodies and vocals got the crowd active, making the supporting set not just an enjoyable one, but a memorable one.

It had been 2 years since the Salt Lake City band had last toured to Glasgow, and they returned on Tuesday as if they had never left. Despite being far away from home, The Backseat Lovers sold out the show in the Scottish city, with the crowd arriving in their hundreds and singing along to every tune.

Opening with Know Your Name, The Backseat Lovers showed up for the Glasgow crowd with an addictive energy that made you never want the show to end. The classic Scottish chants, high energy and crowd participation throughout the night was special and clearly felt by the band.

Tunes from their 2019 debut album ‘When We Were Friends’ were the crowd favourites of the set, including Pool House, Maple Syrup, and not to mention their best-selling hit single Kilby Girl, accumulating 409 million streams on Spotify alone. But tracks from their 2022 sophomore album ‘Waiting To Spill’ also made a feature in the set, including Growing/Dying and Slowing Down, both with a catchy blend of melancholy storytelling, indie shoegaze, and hints of folk rock & alternative genres.

The Backseat Lovers take influences from bands such as Radiohead and Cage The Elephant, making their set a fusion of upbeat, catchy indie tracks as well as slower, shoegaze-led ballads.

The band are set to continue across Europe this month, with some highly anticipated upcoming festival slots in Madrid on the 10th and Algés on the 11th of July.
