After selling out their comeback shows in less than 10 minutes, GENE will be extending their run of dates in to 2026.
This year sees their debut album ‘Olympian‘ turn 30, and will mark the bands first run of dates since their farewell performance at London’s Astoria back in 2004.
GENE‘s first shows back take place in Leeds, Sheffield and London this autumn, with all three shows selling out. Fans will have the chance to see the band on the road in March 2026, with them appearing in Nottingham, Glasgow, Bristol, Dublin and Manchester.
In a press release, Matt James said “All four of us met up, probably for the first time since our last gig, and it immediately felt just like it had always been. We were always very self-depreciating as a group and the banter quickly kicked back in. After a few quips barked across the pub table we relaxed and we all laughed a lot. Straightaway it felt like we were a band again. We’ve just to make sure we can do it musically now too.”
Martin Rossiter adds “We are putting all our energy into making this musically spectacular. Yes, we’re going to be earning some reasonably decent money, but it isn’t yachts in the Adriatic money and the main thing that convinced me to do this again was that, within five minutes, the conversations between the four of us had reached the point of, ‘how do we make this brilliant?’ So that drive is still there, the dynamic was still there and so I started daydreaming about what it would be like to waggle my – slightly larger – ass on the stage one more time.”
