Birkenhead born Miles Kane returned to grassroots venues with a run of intimate shows in support of his upcoming sixth album ‘Sunlight in the Shadows‘. Set for release in October, the Wirral artist brought a host of new songs and fan favourites to The Wardrobe in Leeds for a special night of stripped back entertainment.

Once Miles stepped out from his dressing room on to the stage, The Wardrobe erupted in cheers. Wasting no time in getting the ball rolling, he opened up with ‘I Pray‘, his latest single taken from his upcoming album. With a warm reception following on from the track, Kane went straight into the title track from his second record, ‘Don’t Forget Who You Are‘. This prompted the whole room to join in as they always do during his full band performances.

Following up with two more singles from his new album, ‘Electric Flower‘ and ‘Love Is Cruel‘ were both received positively from the audience which then led in to a more familiar track in the form of ‘Rearrange‘. The whole venue were singing along at this point, giving Miles minimalist effort as the crowd did all the vocal work. The upbeat chorus of ‘Troubled Son‘ kept up the momentum, and remains a staple in Kane‘s set now after the success of ‘One Man Band‘. Treating those in attendance to two unreleased songs, ‘My Love‘ and ‘Coming Down‘ grabbed the whole rooms attention for their first taste of what is remaining from the record.

Despite fan favourites ‘Colour of the Trap‘ and ‘Come Closer‘ keeping the energy alive, a surprise addition of The Last Shadow Puppets’ song ‘Standing Next to Me‘ set the level much higher with screams being let out once the first set of lyrics were sung. Miles concluded his return to Leeds with one final song from his upcoming album, the title track, to see off a short but sweet evening for the Yorkshire crowd.
