BBC Radio 1 has announced their first ever Radio 1 Anthems Live event this November, set to take place at Bradford Live.
Chart topping acts BUSTED, PIXIE LOTT and TINIE TEMPAH are all scheduled to perform on the day, alongside Radio 1 DJ’s Charlie Hedges and Dean McCullough.
Pop-rock trio BUSTED burst on to the scene back in 2002 with their debut single ‘What I Go to School For’. Charlie, James and Matt followed that up with ‘Year 3000’, before taking the top spot in the UK Singles Chart with their third single ‘You Said No’ the following year. Since then, Busted have secured three further #1 singles, and a #1 album with their ‘Greatest Hits 2.0’ record released back in 2023.
In a press release Busted said “We are stoked to be playing Radio 1’s first ever Anthems Live up in Bradford this November. It’s anthems right! So we’ll be playing all of the biggest Busted hits for you, we’re talking Year 3000, Crashed The Wedding, Air Hostess, You Said No, and all the rest of them. It’s gonna be mega. Can’t wait to see you there.”
London born rapped TINIE TEMPAH kicked off 2010 in style with his debut single ‘Pass Out‘ going straight to #1 in the UK Singles Chart. Shortly before his debut album’s release, Tinie’s third single ‘Written in the Stars‘ also peaked at the top spot before ‘Disc-Overy‘, his debut record gave Tempah his third #1 award. Having collaborated with the likes of JLS, Swedish House Mafia, Kelly Rowland, Rita Ora and Ellie Goulding, Tempah is guaranteed to be bringing all the hits to Bradford.
He said “I’m really excited to be playing at Radio 1 Anthems in Bradford. Expect bangers upon bangers classic and new!”
Finally, pop sensation PIXIE LOTT completes the line-up, guaranteed to be bringing those pop anthems from her earlier days. Reaching the top spot with her debut single ‘Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)‘, Pixie went on to achieve the same feat with singles ‘Boys and Girls‘ and ‘All About Tonight’. Her debut album ‘Turn It Up‘ has been certified triple platinum since its release in 2009.
Head of Radio 1 Aled Haydn Jones adds: “I’m delighted that we’ll be bringing the very first Anthems Live to Bradford this November as part of the 2025 UK City of Culture celebrations. Radio 1 Anthems is hugely popular amongst our listeners, and it’s fantastic to bring it to life on stage with these iconic artists. This year we’ve debuted the Radio 1 Anthems Live Lounge and launched Anthems on DAB+ so to be rounding off an incredible year for the brand with this landmark music event is really exciting!”
Performances from Radio 1 Anthems Live will be broadcast on Wednesday 19 November at 5pm on Radio 1 Anthems, with highlights across the day on Radio 1.
BBC Radio 1 Anthems Live is scheduled to take place at Bradford Live on Saturday 15th November.
