As the evenings grow colder and the nights longer, Manchester’s nightlife continues to thrive, with live shows influencing the city’s nightlife. Monday marked the third night of Turnstile’s The Never Enough Tour, a date that 10,000 fans had been eagerly anticipating since June. Set in the legendary Depot Mayfield, famous for hosting some of the biggest names in House, Tech, and EDM for 12 weeks post-festival season; the venue underwent a complete genre shift, welcoming hardcore punk fans for a night they would never forget.
Kicking off the evening was London’s rising hardcore punk band HIGH VIS. Their energy was palpable from the first note, with pounding basslines and storming vocals that immediately captured the crowd. Highlights included fan favourites such as “Walking Wires”, “Choose To Lose”, “Trauma Bonds”, “Drop Me Out”, and “Minds Lie”. With each track, HIGH VIS reinforced their growing presence in the scene, proving why they are one of the UK’s most exciting new punk acts.
Following HIGH VIS, California’s experimental rock-punk duo The Garden took over the stage. Known for their unpredictable performances, the pair delivered a chaotic, high-energy set that combined genres creatively. Fans were treated to standout tracks from their latest releases. Whilst their sound might not appeal to some, they certainly kept the audience on their toes and entertained.
As the night reached its peak, the atmosphere at Depot Mayfield became electric. Turnstile opened with fan favourite “NEVER ENOUGH”, immediately igniting the crowd. Despite the 10,000 cap audience, the band’s raw, intimate energy made the massive venue feel like a packed basement show.
The setlist was a perfect balance of old favourites and newer tracks, flowing seamlessly from one song to the next. Highlights included “T.L.C”, “BIRDS”, “SEEIN’ STARS”, “Real Thing”, “Fazed Out”, and “ALIEN LOVE CALL”. Brendan’s acrobatic stage moves, the band’s tight musicianship, and intense drum solos created moments of pure exhilaration, keeping everyone engaged.
One of the night’s standout moments came during “I CARE”. Live footage of the audience dancing, singing, and embracing was projected onto screens, blending hardcore, melodic, and electronic elements into a euphoric, multi-genre movement. This moment perfectly encapsulated Turnstile’s ability to make every attendee feel connected to the chaos and energy of the show, no matter where they were standing.
From their visually striking stage design and dynamic camera work to their undeniable presence and performance prowess, Turnstile proved why they are a standout talent in the scene. Every aspect of the show, from sound to visual elements, cemented Monday night as one of the best punk shows the city has seen in recent memory.
