Continuing to go from strength to strength in rapid time, Australian alt-act THORNHILL made their return to the UK to celebrate the release of their album ‘Bodies’ bringing along two other exciting Aussie bands to entertain a sold out Leeds crowd.
Kicking off the night were Sydney melodic hardcore outfit BLOOM. Fresh off the release of their debut album ‘The Light We Chase’ just six days prior, this gave the Aussie band the chance to get some new fans onboard for what is set to be an exciting era for them.

Following next were groovy metal outfit OCEAN GROVE, who made a quick return to Leeds just eight months on from their tour supporting The Devil Wears Prada. As ‘Oddworld’ is set to turn one in a few weeks, the Melbourne band are already well equipped with a dedicated UK fanbase. As the band made their way on to the stage, the crowd welcomed them with huge cheers as the sold out Leeds venue were truly invested well before the first track.

Finally Thornhill made their way on to the stage. A roaring reception from the crowd was always to be expected, but this was certainly their warmest welcome to date. Kicking off with ‘Diesel’, the ‘Bodies’ material were guaranteed to go down a storm with the fans. Chopping and changing between material old and new, it was the new tracks that were getting all the praise.
Performing almost the record in full, tracks such as ‘Revolver, ‘Only Ever You’ and ‘under the knife’ kept up the intensity that flowed throughout the room. Vocalist Jacob Charlton would occasionally swap between solo vocal duties and picking up the guitar to add the extra power into the sets sound. As ‘Blue Velvet’ and ‘Silver Swarm’ set up the final portion of the set, Thornhill made sure they went out with a bang.
The Leeds crowd didn’t stop all night. ‘For Now’, ‘Obsession’ and fan favourite ‘nerv’ concluded the performance, for now. Thornhill returned to the stage for the final time, giving the Yorkshire audience a chance to unleash hell once and for all. Ending their show with ‘Casanova’, the Aussie quartet bowed out with their heads held high after a triumphant display.
