After being forced to postpone the original tour dates due to a wisdom tooth deciding to force an appearance, CMAT ensured that as soon as she was gig ready, that the show must go on. A sold out Sheffield crowd only have to wait a matter of weeks before normal service resumed and that allowed further excitement to build ahead of what was a thrilling performance at the Octagon.
As the eight sided building’s lights began to dim, an ear piercing scream from the 1800 in attendance welcomed a surprise appearance from CMAT, which saw the Irish superstar emerge at the opposite side of the room before making her way through the crowd during the opening song ‘Janis Joplining‘. Once she joined “The very sexy CMAT band” on stage, the audience erupted in cheers again, as the very amusing and candid ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station‘ soon followed to further enhance the usual not-so-serious performance that CMAT delivers every time.

Allowing each member from the band to have their own moment, CMAT stepped aside as one by one they flaunted their enthusiasm all while still delivering a very tightknit collective performance throughout the 15-song set. Further crowd pleasing tracks ‘When a Good Man Cries‘ and ‘Take a Sexy Picture of Me‘ kept those in attendance entertained, it was the latter that received the biggest reception of them all, as CMAT introduced the song as a big middle finger to the online trolls that have commented on her appearance, to which the crowd collectively and with no hesitation booed to the Irish singer’s delight.
There was no signs of slowing down yet though, with the energetic ‘Tree Six Foive‘ and the first run of on the tour for ‘Whatever’s Inconvenient’ gave this Sheffield show that extra bit of love and individuality. At this stage, CMAT and “The very sexy CMAT band” were heading into the final portion of the set. ‘Iceberg’, ‘Rent’ and ‘Running Planning’ rounded off a spectacular display ahead of the eventual encore. A quick return to the stage saw ‘EURO-COUNTRY‘ kick things back off before fan favourite ‘I Wanna Be a Cowboy, Baby!‘ had the whole place swaying from side to side, with little encouragement required while ‘Stay for Something‘ served as the shows climatic ending for a much welcomed return to the steel city for CMAT.
