Artist Debbie Sings is taking on the UK music scene as part of her new album ‘Oh My’, set for release on the 27th February. Being from Copenhagen, she’s been immersed in the Danish rave scene and highly celebrated too, being named a number one pick for Danish music publication ‘Soundview‘. Learning to produce with names such as Smerz, Clarissa Connolly and Erika de Casier, her new EP is entirely self produced DIY Electro-clash.
Boldly saying “I have a lot of stuff to say” on the opening track, we’re brought into the album with an energy and ecstasy that never fades, the track ‘Oh My‘ is a future club classic. Descending into the fully unhinged ‘Sucker Punch‘, she truly doesn’t hold back, no matter who it might offend. Even on softer tracks like ‘Sunny Skies’ where Debbie gets her spark shine, your hips still move to her infectious beats. The European dance influence shines in ‘Make Your Body Move‘, the unapologetic sexiness of her fashion and persona is echoed in ‘Hotpants‘ too. ‘Music Loves Me‘ and ‘Oh My‘ show how the simplicity of hyper pop makes this album catchy and addictive. The reverb on ‘Leave the City‘ leaves blurry and hard to decipher lyrics, it is the perfect way to fade out the album.
Citing influences from 2000’s electroclash such as ‘Uffie‘ all the way to Country and Rock, music guides her life and collates to create her space in electric pop. Minimalistic lyrics highlight that not every song needs to be a poem to be impressive. Her affinity in production and mixing shines through this album and her live performances, which are engrossed with dancing, singing and djing too. A bright future is ahead for this pop prodigy, full of evolving music, sold out shows and worldwide recognition.
