Sunday night saw the electrifying return of DMA’S as they brought all the noise to Manchester, celebrating 10 years of their debut album ‘Hills End‘.
Amidst the Valentine’s Day chaos and blizzard that hit the city over the weekend, fans of Sydney’s own alternative/indie rock trio were given the chance to relive the ultimate night of nostalgia. Known as one of Manchester’s most legendary music venues, O2 Victoria Warehouse sheltered fans from the cold and provided the perfect setting to re-embrace a staple album from their youth a decade on.
As part of their final night at the venue, DMA’S performed ‘Hills End‘ from beginning to end, delivering each track back-to-back as fans gathered arm-in-arm to scream the lyrics in euphoric unison, a reminder of the unifying power live music still holds. Crowd favourites such as ‘Delete’, ‘Step Up The Morphine’, ‘Timeless’ and ‘Lay Down’ echoed through the warehouse, while everyone danced, sang and jumped in celebration of a record that clearly still means so much.
As nostalgia continues to dominate conversations, particularly reflections on 2016 and how much has changed over the past decade; one thing remains certain: the love and adoration for DMA’S is still going strong.
Alongside the full ‘Hills End‘ run-through, the band treated fans to additional favourites ‘Silver’ and ‘Tape Deck Sick’, even performing ‘Lay Down’ twice, a moment that felt less indulgent and more like a mutual agreement between band and crowd that the night simply couldn’t end just yet. A decade later, ‘Hills End‘ doesn’t just endure, it still belongs in rooms like this, shouted back word-for-word by the fans who grew up with it.
