As the release of his fourth album ‘Lovely Night of Terror‘ is set for release at the end of March, Dundee’s Kyle Falconer returned to the Steel City on his own accord, a city very familiar with The View’s presence over the years. Delivering new material and fan favourites from The View to an intimate setting, this was perfect for a Friday night.

The biggest room of the venue soon quickly filled up, with Falconer and his band taking to the stage with a strong set list ahead of him. Opening with ‘Stress Ball‘, one of his oldest solo work to feature on the set, it was clear it wasn’t going to be just songs from The View right from the off. Kyle teased the Sheffield crowd with the next song, ‘Worlds Away‘, which features The Darkness’ Justin Hawkins on the recording. The Scotsman looked around for Hawkins’ but joked he wasn’t available for the night.

More familiar tunes began to flourish in, as ‘Grace‘ and ‘Wasted Little DJ’s‘ had the whole room singing along. Pints were raised in the air and folk were dancing around throughout the room. Falconer’s latest single ‘Midas Touch‘ soon followed, another one from his upcoming record which features some indie royalty in the form of Peter Doherty. Sadly no sign of the Libertine on the night, but that certainly didn’t dampen the mood. Further material from The View began to make its way into the set once again, with ‘Face for the Radio‘ and ‘Superstar Tradesman‘ continuing to get the crowd joining in, as this then lead into the calming ‘Tacky Tattoo‘ before a duo of Oasis covers. First up was ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol‘ which was followed up with ‘Half the World Away‘. Despite being polar opposites in tempo, but both delivered exquisitely both from the band and the crowds’ joint effort.

Leading straight into The View’s biggest hit ‘Same Jeans‘, this allowed the Sheffield crowd to give it one last push and see of Kyle Falconer and his band in style. Of course, this was always going to be the loudest of the songs, but regardless if it is Kyle on his own, or The View, the song is sung with love.

Kyle Falconer’s upcoming album ‘Lovely Night of Terror’ is set for release Friday 27th March 2026.
