For his first UK shows of 2026, Geordie rising star Andrew Cushin concluded a weekend of shows with a sold out performance at Mexborough’s Gorilla Beer Hall, making it his third appearance at the venue and one that the man himself continues to look forward to.

Unfortunately, Cushin wasn’t joined by all of his band on this occasion due to them feeling unwell from their trip to SXSW in Austin, Texas. Nevertheless, Andrew ensured to deliver his usual bliss performance that his fans continue to return for alongside familiar face Rich Smedley. Opening with ‘Wor Flags‘, this had the whole room singing along right from the off. The upbeat chorus was enough to get everyone involved with little to no encouragement and Mexborough didn’t disappoint.

Continuing with crowd pleasing tracks, ‘Alright‘ quickly followed. The energy in the room didn’t shy away anytime soon, with those in attendance making their voices heard even more so. Dipping between both of his records, ‘New World Blazing‘ and ‘It’s Coming Round Again‘ were delivered exquisitely. Despite its stripped back approach, this didn’t stop the Gorilla audience from getting involved at all as ‘A Song For You’ concluded the first portion of the set as Smedley stepped off stage to leave Andrew to take over on his own.

The more laid back portion of the set came around with ‘Hollywood‘, ‘You Don’t Belong‘ and ‘I’m Coming Home‘ keeping the capacity crowd entertained. It goes to show no matter the scenario that Cushin is dealt with, he makes sure to put every ounce of effort and energy into it so the crowd walks away more than pleased. That was no different at this show.

Rounding off his Mexborough return with ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah‘ and ‘Where’s My Family Gone‘, Cushin‘s hat trick was complete and arguably his best displace on the Meccie Riviera yet.
