In support of his sixth studio album ‘Ghosts (100 Days of Morning)’, Jamie T returned to the live circuit for a series of intimate, stripped-back acoustic shows in collaboration with independent record stores. With a huge UK tour taking place at the end of the year, this was set to be a special evening to hear new songs live for the first time as well as witness Jamie T in a different setting compared to the usual large sized shows and festival headline slots that fans have been accustomed to over the years.
With no support slot required on the night, Jamie T graced the Nottingham crowd with an hours worth of music. As he made his way onto the stage to a roaring cheer that welcomed him, he took his seat and with just simple white lights pointed at him, it was showtime. Opening with ‘St. Christopher’ from his 2009 EP ‘Sticks ‘n’ Stones’. A slight surprise considering the show was to promote the new record but nonetheless, the crowd were still up for hearing some golden oldies. Jamie continued on with throwbacks as ‘The Prophet’ and ‘Emily’s Heart’ quickly followed just in time for ‘3310’ to come around. Despite being the lead single from the new record, this felt like it has been in Jamie’s set for a long time based on the reception for the track. The entire venue was singing along, with the chorus matching T’s amplified vocals each time.
Continuing with the set filled with classics, ‘If You Got the Money’, ‘Sticks N Stones’ and ‘50,000 Unmarked Bullets’ rounded off the set as Jamie T exited the stage to a roaring cheer once again before returning for one more song. The Nottingham crowd waited in excitement to hear what would be the grand finale, and not leaving the venue disappointed, it was ‘Back in the Game’. Setting up the upcoming full band tour later in the year, fans who attended Nottingham will gladly travel to another city based on the excitement, energy and love that flowed throughout the venue on the night.
