Thursday 29th October saw Manchester welcome another wave of emerging Irish talent, as alternative-rock outfit BASHT. took to the stage at Gorilla.

As the season of indoor gigs and festivals gets into full swing, BASHT. made their return to the city following an appearance at Neighbourhood Festival earlier in October, bringing their gritty, post-punk sound and electrifying live energy to the iconic venue.

Known for their brooding vocals, melodic undertones and cutting guitar riffs, BASHT. are quickly establishing themselves as a formidable name in the indie-rock scene. Their growing reputation has been backed by praise for both their live performances and recorded material, most recently with the release of their debut album, Poor Advice, in early October.

Their latest headline tour marks another milestone in the band’s rise, with sold-out shows demonstrating the growing demand for their music. Manchester was no exception. Gorilla was packed with fans of all ages, eagerly awaiting the band’s arrival; and when they finally took to the stage, they did so with an effortless confidence and unmistakable sense of ambition.

Following in the footsteps of the bands that have paved the way for a new generation of alternative talent, BASHT. have already developed a commanding stage presence that feels well beyond their years. The atmosphere was relentless, with the crowd throwing themselves into every moment, jumping, moshing and screaming lyrics back at the stage with the same angst and intensity that runs through the band’s music.

Fan favourites including Keira Knightley, Stockholm, Gone Girl and Wild Horses sat comfortably alongside material from their newly released debut album. The addition of these tracks gave the performance a fresh dimension, offering Manchester fans a chance to experience the band’s evolving sound in a live setting, just weeks after their previous appearance at Neighbourhood Festival.
