Your new single ‘Samhain’ is out now. What has the reception been like so far?

SEB: The reception has been really positive! A lot of people seem to be appreciating the witchy/spooky vibes, which are, of course, very appropriate for this time of year. The song has some quite interesting (multiple) time signatures going on which are a little unusual, but fortunately that hasn’t seemed to stop anyone from enjoying it (yet) which is a relief..!

How excited are you to unleash ‘Homeward Bound’ out into the world?

JONNY: We started the collaborative writing process in July 2025, started recording these back in November 2025, and wrapped up mixes in July 2026. It’s safe to say we are beyond excited for fans to hear all the new tunes in March 2027! Promise it’ll be worth the wait. And we do have some singles coming out before then to whet the appetite…

Has anything changed in how you’re approached the new record? How does it differ from ‘Northern Sky’ and your debut?

JONNY: The first big difference: we wrote all the songs! The debut album didn’t have any originals on it, the second album had two originals (Northern Sky and Tall Tales), and this marks our first fully-original album after writing songs together over a number of sessions. Obviously we love singing the traditional tunes that brought us together, but there’s something magical about writing songs as a group, putting our inner selves and individual tastes into the music on each and every track.

The second big difference: Cian Synnott, and The Clinic Recording Studios in Dublin. Because this album is completely original, we wanted an external producer to help shape the sound from start to finish, recording the songs in a professional studio environment. In short: Cian’s been class. His experience as a recording and mix engineer, combined with a relaxed positive energy, allowed us to get the best out of the recording experience at The Clinic, and the album owes a lot to Cian’s vision and passion. Additionally, the session musicians Cian brought in from his contacts in the Irish music scene – fiddle, cello, harp, bodhran, pedal steel, and percussion – add so much life and joy to the tracks. We feel extremely lucky to have worked with them!

Are there any other tracks from the record that fans should be excited about, and why?

SEB: Honestly it’s really hard to say which tracks on the album we’re particularly excited about as I think we like it all! There’s definitely something for everyone. We have wanted to bring out the best in each of us, so there’s something for fans of the deep bass, feelsy ballads, whimsical numbers, upbeat folk and piratical singalongs!

Can fans expect to see The Wellermen on the road in 2027?

LUKE: Fans can and should be expecting to see us on tour in 2027! We have a lot of fun stuff in the books for the future, all thanks to the continuous love and support from our fans. It is such a surreal honour to travel around making music for people, and we hope to continue doing it as long as we can!
