Lead frontman Kyle Falconer of The View brought his solo Pre Album Tour to Glasgow for his 2nd of two consecutive sold-out nights at King Tut’s on 10th April.

The Friday night started with two cracking local support acts Grady Kinnell and Jack Torrance. Grady Kinnell performed solo with just himself and a guitar, offering a short but sweet set with great vocals and promising introduction to his sound as a solo artist to the Glasgow crowd.

Jack Torrance was up next at 8.05pm, who played some of his released tunes as well as unreleased. His upcoming single ‘Forever’ is due to come out in a couple of weeks, which you should definitely keep an eye out for. Torrance often chatted with the crowd, saying he last played at King Tut’s back in August, and was more than excited to be a part of the bill with Falconer tonight.

Kyle Falconer’s set started just an hour later at 9.05pm, and had a good mix of older solo tracks, newer album tracks, and some classic covers by The View, all to which the crowd enjoyed. Falconer has been releasing solo music since 2018, and has just released his fourth album ‘Lovely Night Of Terror’ on 27th March.

Earlier on in the day, Falconer did an in-store signing at Assai Records where fans got to meet and chat with the band ahead of the King Tut’s headline. So, a lot of the crowd tonight had already met with Falconer ahead of the show, which just shows the loyal following he has crafted over the years!

Lady Coachella‘ was probably a crowd favourite, even though this single had only been out for a couple of weeks the crowd had already learnt the words! Falconer also brought up his good memories of playing at King Tut’s “as a wean”, having first played at the venue back in 2006. Another classic played by The View was ‘Tacky Tattoo‘ and ‘Same Jeans‘, which you could really tell the crowd was here for. This night was filled with lots of guitar instrumentals, frequent chats and both new & old classics, showing a new sound to Kyle Falconer as a solo artist as well as the frontman legend of The View that he is.
