Indie rockers The Clause brought their second leg of the Victim Of A Casual Thing tour to Edinburgh’s Cabaret Voltaire on 16th April.

The night kicked off with local West Lothian opening band Stride. This indie rock 4-piece offered lots of guitar-driven tunes and catchy riffs. Stride have also previously supported fellow West Lothian band The Snuts and rising star Alex Spencer. 2nd opener Keyside from Liverpool brought an addictingly authentic energy and stage presence – perfectly setting the vibe for the rest of the night. Keyside are already setting a name for themselves as a live band – and with only two EPs out to-date, Keyside should definitely be on your radar for 2026.

By 9pm The Clause started their set with their classic walk-on song ‘Morning Glory’ by Oasis. As The Clause have previously cited Oasis as one of their biggest musical influences, this was the perfect choice of walk-on track as the crowd were already more than ready for the band to start their set.

2nd and 3rd setlist tracks ‘Tell Me What You Want’ and ‘Fake It’ were crowd favourites with their signature guitar riffs and catchy tune. Vocalist Pearce Macca often interacted with the crowd throughout the set, addressing the crowd’s high energy: “Edinburgh, I feel a bit electric, don’t you?” to introduce their older single Electric from 2022.

Although the Edinburgh venue was tightly packed right to the back and out the door, the energy could be felt from all corners. It was clear tonight was a highly anticipated comeback, as it had been 2 years since the Birmingham quartet had played a full set in the Scottish capital. Most of the crowd knew the words to their most popular tunes, and from speaking to some people in the crowd, some had seen them live multiple times.

The Clause have evidently cultivated a loyal following throughout the years, with Macca telling the audience it was a pleasure to return to such a beautiful place. When this comment was met with some mixed reactions from the crowd, Macca humorously doubled down by saying: “I do mean that, seriously. We are from Birmingham, so anything is an upgrade.”

Another set highlight was an introductory cover of ‘Pump Up The Jam’ by Technotronic, before diving straight into their album tracks ‘I Don’t Care’ and ‘Elisha,’ before closing the set with their classics ‘Weekend Millionaire’ and ‘Element.’

Up next for The Clause is festival season – you can catch them at Rock N’ Roll Circus in Norwich and Sheffield, and Rock for People festival in Czechia. The Clause have also landed a major supporting slot with the Kaiser Chiefs in Marbella Arena, Spain, this June.
